Think Positively!

"We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make our world" -Buddha The gift of positive thinking is truly underrated.  When a person can think positively they tend to experience less stress, worry and depression.  What are ways that you increase your positive thinking?  First of all, challenge your negative thinking by stating “Not helpful” when one arises.  This way the negative thought will not have an opportunity to cement in your brain.  Secondly, have a few positive sayings that you repeat during times that negative thoughts tend to arise.  These can be as simple as “Breathe” or “This too shall pass”.   Finally, practice positivity by smiling at the cashier, sending a kind text or calling a good friend to…

Love YOU!

“To love yourself is as much your duty as it is to love other people.”  (Joyce Meyer) Loving yourself.  This is a really important concept for us to grasp especially around the holiday season.  Holidays for many people can bring joy, excitement and anticipation, and for others it can bring out feelings of anxiety, sadness and loneliness.  Whatever your reaction to the holiday season is perfectly ok.  There is no “right” way to experience a holiday, but one thing we all can do throughout the holiday season is love ourselves.  How does one practice loving themselves?  Well, it can look different for every person and that is the best part of love – it’s not a cookie cutter shape.  For some people loving oneself happens when the say “no” to…

An Attitude of Gratitude

"Wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving." (Kahlil Gibran) Gratitude.  I find this powerful word one of my best self-care tools.  It holds no restrictions to the time of day or place where I am able to use it.  Gratitude has the ability to make a dark situation a bit brighter.  It can fill a person with hope, peace and love.  This week I invite you to practice gratitude and see what it can bring to your day.  Ideas to practice gratitude might include making a list of 5 things each day you are grateful for in your life, sending an email to someone you are blessed to know, saying "I love you" and meaning it, or simply recognizing the impact a…

Full of AWESOME!

This is one of my favorite blogs that I just had to share with you because, let’s face it, you are Awesome! http://blog.pigtailpals.com/2011/08/waking-up-full-of-awesome/ Waking Up Full of Awesome There was a time when you were five years old, and you woke up full of awesome. You knew you were awesome. You loved yourself. You thought you were beautiful, even with missing teeth and messy hair and mismatched socks inside your grubby sneakers. You loved your body, and the things it could do. You thought you were strong. You knew you were smart. Do you still have it? The awesome. Did someone take it from you? Did you let them? Did you hand it over, because someone told you weren’t beautiful enough, thin enough, smart enough, good enough? Why the hell…

Explore. Dream. Discover.

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did.  So throw off the bowlines.  Sail away from the safe harbor.  Catch the trade winds in your sails.  Explore. Dream. Discover."     ~M. Twain Today is the ribbon cutting ceremony for Reimann Counseling Clinic.  This is a very exciting day because the dream that owner, Jenny Reimann had is being realized.  Her once private practice is expanding, and with that more clients are getting the services they need and deserve.  It is because of Jenny's willingness to explore the possibilities of her dream and her determination to see it through, that this day is a possibility.  Do you tend to follow Jenny's lead and make your dreams a reality?  Or,…
